“PLAY BALL!!!????????”

Spring is here, and we all know that means it is time to “PLAY BALL!!!” Unfortunately we live in Colorado…That means one day it can be 80 degrees followed by 31 degrees and 10 inches of heavy, wet snow! I know it can be frustrating as a ball player to get pumped to go out and take some BP, and or some infield, and then find out the field is sloppy and unusable! It is even worse to have your home opener scheduled and watch the field get pounded twice in a week with multiple snowstorms like this past week. So we recommend this alternative.

INDOOR TRAINING…We here at the Colorado Sports Organization have partnered with a couple of different places to go and workout here in the Denver Metro Area.

Slammers Baseball and Softball training center has been around for a while. Slammers has 2 locations dedicated to fulfilling the needs of players of all ages and abilities. Their staff and instructors have over 75 years of combined professional playing and coaching experience. The 40,000 square foot Lakewood facility offers 17 indoor tunnels for personal or team rental, and five fully automated pitching machines to refine your baseball and softball skills. Our 6,000 square foot Inverness facility has 5 indoor tunnels for personal or team rental. We can handle all of your Team Sales needs as well as any retail equipment needs.

The Diamond Club Training Facility is a practice and instructional facility that focuses on hitting and pitching instruction, camps and clinics, youth teams, fall showcase teams, summer Connie Mack teams, and indoor facility rentals. The club was established based on the belief that the game of baseball is an enriching experience that can be enhanced through practice and instruction. Diamond Club instructors are professional coaches and /or ex-professional baseball players who bring areas of expertise to our company to create an overall consistent instructional facility.

Well we are on our way with the 1st Annual Bracket Brawl here at the Colorado Sports Organization. We had a great turnout with over 40 participants!!! Don’t forget the Colorado Sports Organization will be hosting a Championship Party on April 5th, 2010 at Legends Sports Grill in Aurora! Legends will be hooking us up with amazing food and drink specials, CSO will have more prizes, and we will crown our winner that night! It is a private party for you and anyone you can invite…HA HA! Happy St. Patricks Day and Week!!!

Happy St. Patty’s weekend!!! Followed by the real St. Patty’s Day on Wednesday. Wow!!! What a week it will be. Here at the Colorado Sports Organization we have some big plans and some great events.

Starting Saturday morning we have our Denver Roller Dolls skating in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Denver! This is followed by their season opening party at the Wynkoop Brewery. All are welcome!

After that morning and afternoon of fun we will walk on over the the Pepsi Center!!! This is where it gets crazy. WASA will be hosting their Annual Pepsi Center Dodgeball Showdown starting at 2:30. Hundreds of people who may or may not have been participating in the mornings festivities will be hurling dodgeballs at eachother! Could be recipe for insanity. Either way it will be fun. After this WASA will be holding an exciting Happy Hour at Maloney’s!

Bet you though we were done…think again. After all of that we will all head back to watch the Mammoth game that night! Busy day full of green beer, girls on skates, flying dodgeballs and we will finish it with some hard-hitting Colorado Mammoth action!

Last but not least, we will cap everything off on actual St. Patty’s night at Old Chicago for our St. Baldrick’s Day Event. This is a great way to have some fun for a good cause. Colorado Sports Organization will be there, along with the Roller Dolls, and a few other organization members and partners. This event is sponsored by WRFD and WRPD.

Tickets are still available to go watch some youthful adults wing dodgeballs at eachother, and also for the Mammoth game. It is a great deal! All the other “stuff” is FREE! So come down and look for us…we will be the one’s wearing the green shirts! HA HA HA!

There are a million and one run/walks going on throughout the state. It is time for you to try one, and for those of you who do this on a regular basis, it is time to try a new one! We have the Cherry Creek Sneak, The Boulder Half Marathon, The Colfax Marathon, The Pikes Peak Ascent…like I said a million and one of these opportunities to get out an run/walk. So, as an athlete I cherish the opportunity to play. I don’t know what I would do without it. I don’ think I would make it through my work week without that chance to get out and lose myself in sport. The pros of playing something I love…well, I can’t even write them all down.

Recently a couple of events crossed my desk here at the Colorado Sports Organization that caused me to challenge myself with a few questions. What if I had my opportunity to play stripped from me? What would I do? How would I make it? I found strength though as I read about these two events and the athletes that participate in them. This summer, right here in Denver, CO we have the opportunity, or rather the privelage, of hosting two amazing sports events.

The 2010 National Veterans Wheelchair Games and the National Wheelchair Basketball Association’s 2010 Championships will both be held here this year. What an opportunity to help show what a great host we can be to some of the most exciting sports events around. We will have the chance to show off our town, our sportmanship and give these athletes a show of support rivaled by no other sports town in the USA!!!

To make this happen we need your help Colorado…We need volunteers and fans to come out in full force!

So we know there are those of you out there who want to play, but are a little apprehensive for many different reasons. So here is our answer…GO PLAY!!!

Believe it or not for every one of you out there that is playing, there are at least 10 sitting around at home thinking about it! This forum is to inform and encourage everyone to get up and get out.

Here is an example. I know a few personal friends in the 30-40 year old range who have spent many a night “talking” about working out, or joining a specific sports team. Yet here we are one, five or even 10 years later just “talking.” It is time to start walking. Don’t assume that everyone your age is just sitting around. If you think you can do it or want to do it, that means someone (probably a lot of someones) are already doing it. It exists! Just find it. To do that visit www.colosports.org. We are in the process of finding teams, leagues and events here in Colorado that anyone 1 to 100 can participate in.

We need your help though. Both the current athlete, and the one thinking about it. Tell us what you enjoy, and tell us where to find it, so we can share with others. Use this forum to encourage everyone in Colorado to go find their passion, and PLAY!

National Veterans Wheelchair Games

Dates: July 4 – 9, 2010

Location: Denver Convention Center and surrounding locationsInfo: A multi-event sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, amputations, or certain neurological problems. Attracting more than 500 athletes each year, the National Veterans Wheelchair Games is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world. The Games promote rehabilitation through rigorous competition in such events as basketball, rugby, softball, handcycling and others. A special “Kids Day” program allows children with disabilities to meet the athletes and be introduced to wheelchair sports.

We host this year Denver…So let’s show them what we got! They are looking for volunteers, financial support, and fans! If you are interested yourself, or as an organization, please contact us! We are looking to make a “Team Colorado Sports Org” to go help out. Join CSO Staff and family and some of our partners and members to help make this event a success! The Dolls of Derby

Watch Out!!! Here they come…The Denver Roller Dolls. This is a non-profit organization of women who work by day, and skate by night. I will let you look at the website and look at their names and stats…These girls are not just girls. These are knock you out and laugh about it women.

Don’t get the wrong idea about them. They are loving wives, mothers, sisters and business professionals. Yet they have a passion for derby, and a drive to win! Keep in mind this is not just entertainment. This is a serious sport that you, yes you, can participate in. They hold open tryouts and different opportunities for you ladies that might be interested. This is serious stuff though, so no tire kickers!

They start their derby season this month. The 1st bout is March 20th at the 1STBANK CENTER, formerly the Broomfield Events Center. Tickets are on sale now! For more information on this and other Adult Sports and Events visit www.colosports.org.
